What was your very first job? When I was 14 I got a seasonal job at Polo Ralph Lauren for the holiday season at an outlet mall in rural Minnesota. It didn’t pay very well so I supplemented it with several babysitter/dog walker miscellaneous jobs. Ultimately I got laid off from Polo Ralph and stuck around in retail for a few more years until I was old enough to get into the restaurant industry. It was quite the experience you could say.
What’s your favorite thing to do when not working? Outside of work I truly love a good glass of cabernet and sunshine with good people. Also, I enjoy traveling, painting, flying, and ultimately just taking each and every day to create a new adventure.
When did you know you were going to go into digital marketing? When I was in middle school I taught myself HTML and CSS coding so I could have the coolest MySpace page amongst my friends. My mom couldn’t comprehend why I would sit in front of my computer for hours but she saw it as a potential business strategy and planted the “you could do this as a living” seed. From there I went to the University of Minnesota and studied web design, technical communication, and rhetoric where I continuously saw how marketing fit into all my studies, so I started tying marketing strategies into all of my assignments. Since then I’ve been fascinated with business, branding, social media and all things digital marketing.
Who inspires you the most in your career? My mom has always inspired me in my career. She can and does accomplish every day dream she’s ever had and she is truly the hardest working human I’ve ever met. I also am truly inspired by creatives that confidently share their artwork and educational material in hopes of making businesses, people and the world brighter.
What are you most excited about working with MAM on? I’m super excited to contribute my creativity and previous experiences to the MAM team. Also, I’m super excited to work with clients on how they can better showcase their brands in their digital marketing strategies. My background is in brand management, graphic design, and business strategies so I’m excited to implement my previous skills and experiences towards the great clients that choose to work with MAM.
