Start Thinking Ahead for Your Holiday Marketing Strategy
As small businesses enter into autumn, it’s important to remember that the holidays are coming up. While it may seem too soon, it’s vital to note the importance of starting your planning early. So Mountain Air Marketing (MAM) wanted to highlight a few reasons why it’s important to start early on your holiday marketing strategy and what to be thinking through as you enter the fall.
If You Don’t Plan Ahead, You Will Be Behind the Competition
According to a survey done by BigCommerce.com in 2018, almost 57% of brands surveyed saw their sales spike in Q4 of 2017. This is largely due to the uptick in consumer purchasing for the holidays. Of those brands surveyed, 53% said that they started panning their successful campaigns in August, September, and October of 2017, and they have no plan to stop planning early for future holiday seasons. In fact, 88% of brands expect to see an increase in revenue this upcoming 2018 season as they continue to plan and campaign early for Christmas and other holidays.
The big takeaway is that if you start too much later than this month or October, then it’s going to be too late to compete with companies who were on top of things long before this.
Digital Marketing is Key to Your Holiday Success
As the digital market continues to grow, consumers are continuing to look online before they purchase. According to the National Retail Federation, almost 35% of consumers read product reviews online before purchasing, and 22% use their mobile phone to look for products online before they step into any kind of physical store. So regardless of whether you are primarily an eCommerce business or a physical business, it’s important to have your digital presence front and center when you are thinking about promoting any kind of product this holiday season.
With this in mind, it’s important to remember that Google and other search engines play a huge part in making sure that your company and product gets promoted through both organic and paid reach. And distinguishing between mobile and desktop to make sure your company stands out on both is really important, too!
High Quality Content Will Stand Out
According to a study done by Kapost, content marketing produces three times more leads than paid ads. In other words, you can’t just throw together a few social media ads and think that that’s going to ensure holiday success. Think through your digital marketing strategy by offering unique, valuable content that can help organically promote whatever it is you’re going to be selling.
Good research into your audience and how you can inform and inspire them with content like videos, blogs, infographics, etc., can help you really rise above all of the endless ads that people are usually trying to avoid. While it may take a little more effort, it will pay off in the long run for you and your business.
